Michael Wysolmerski is a professional under-packer who flies by the seat of his pants and starts packing roughly the night before, if he’s ahead of schedule. By day, he’s a husband, dad, and fire department officer. By night — or more accurately, once the kids are finally down — he reviews hotels and restaurants with the same unfiltered honesty most people reserve for the group chat.
He believes every trip runs on the same three things: good food, a decent bed, and expectations low enough to occasionally be pleasantly surprised. Most places land at Whelmed. A fair number don’t even manage that. Overwhelmed is real, but don’t hold your breath.
When he’s not traveling, he’s drinking coffee, avoiding email, and wondering why anyone pays extra for a “partial ocean view.”
Fun fact: he once gave a hotel one star for charging $7 for Wi-Fi.
