Found this one the usual way — Googled “breakfast Ogunquit,” saw the high ratings and the promise of local flavor, figured we’d give it a shot. Mrs. Underwhelmed Traveler and I rolled up expecting a quaint little mom-and-pop situation. What we got was more “popular local spot with a line out the door,” which, fine, that’s on us for showing up on a busy Tuesday.

The wait was 45 minutes. On a Tuesday. In Ogunquit. Make of that what you will.

Once we sat down, the place had that nautical-New-England-diner thing going — blue gingham curtains, buoys on the wall, tight seating, decent buzz. Service was competent but not exactly warm — you got the sense you were table number whatever in a long line of tables, not an unwelcome feeling, just an efficiently processed one.

Then the food showed up and honestly saved the whole visit. I got the fresh lobster omelet — three eggs, spinach, mushroom, cheddar, and it was absolutely stuffed with real lobster meat, not the token sprinkle you sometimes get. Cooked perfectly, everything melded together, came with roasted potatoes and sourdough toast. No notes. This was the best thing either of us ate.

Mrs. Underwhelmed went with the blueberry waffle, leaning into the whole “Maine is famous for blueberries” angle. It was fine. Waffle-sized, waffle-shaped, tasted like a waffle. Nothing to write home about, though apparently I’m writing about it anyway.

Coffee was weak across the board. If we go back, I’m bringing my own thermos.

The verdict: Worth the wait, worth going back. Service could be warmer, coffee needs work, but that lobster omelet single-handedly pulls this one out of “underwhelmed” territory. 3.5/5.
