Filed under: Whelmed, bordering on Overwhelmed
Found this one the way you find everything these days — asked the robot for a breakfast spot on our route, and for once it didn’t lead us into a ditch. Roadside diner, the kind of place I’ve seen a thousand times growing up in PA, so I walked in with the standard greasy-spoon expectations: fine food, forgettable food, food you eat because it’s 9am and you’re hungry.
Turns out somebody handed the diner playbook to a cook with a Mexican flair, and it worked. I got something called “the Divide” — three eggs and cheese buried under green chili sauce, with hash browns and toast on the side. Not a dainty portion, not a bland one either. Genuinely flavorful, filling, well put together. The Mrs. went the safer route with eggs Benedict, which she said hit exactly where Benedicts are supposed to hit — no more, no less.
Sat outside at one of maybe four tables, quiet except for some road noise, service quick and no-nonsense. Place was clearly busy — lot was full — but somehow no wait. Forty bucks for two of us, out the door.
I don’t say this often, so let it land: I’d stop here again, and if you’re passing through York, you should too. I’m not ready to hand out “Overwhelmed” — that’s a rare title reserved for the truly exceptional — but this is as close as it gets without crossing the line.

Verdict: Whelmed, bordering on Overwhelmed.
